If you read the book where this movie was based on back in the 80s when you were a young adult, you will bask in the nostalgia while watching it. However, in the age where horror movies like “The Nun” and “Annabelle Comes Home” is the gold standard of creepy jump scares, you might be disappointed by this movie because there is no jump scares, hardly any foreboding vibe of dread, and rather draggy in some parts. The young casts did a great job embodying their characters and tried their best to make their roles believable. The problem is the premise felt dated and the pacing need some fixing. And the biggest problem is that it’s NOT that scary nor is it suspenseful. The only suspenseful part that I encountered was the last act in the movie. That’s when the scariest ghost showed up and chase after the remaining characters in the movie. If you are a hardcore horror fan, two third of this movie will bore you to death.
